The ALPHV/BlackCat ransomware group claims to have hacked Morrison Community Hospital, stealing 5TB data, including patients’ and employee’s information. The group has begun contacting journalists due to lack of response from hospital representatives. This year, 29 US health systems, encompassing 90 hospitals, have been affected by ransomware, with data stolen in at least 23 instances. Various other ransomware groups, including LockBit and Rhysida, have also recently targeted hospitals.

Ah, malware. These insidious little programs crawl into our phones, laptops and other smart devices and wreak havoc. Usually, you can trust the Google Play Store, Apple’s App Store, Amazon apps and all other official sources.
